note to self:

2005-02-12

going to a gig when you're suffering from a horrible cold isn't very helpful. the music and the presence of some shweet rockstars might be healing, but the cigarette smoke, sweating and running around in the cold outside afterwards aren't. that was the lesson to be learned yesterday. another lesson was that slut will always play the best sets when you're in a poor condition and can't really enjoy it all as much as you should. i wish they had played the songs in that order when i saw them with maja last year. back then, i was so pissed that they played most of my faves right in the beginning and this time, it was perfect. they played "easy to love" and "why pourquoi?" (non-german version, yay!) right after another in the middle of the set (would have been perfect to mosh a little, meh) and my total fave, "universal", came second last. also, they played "hope" before the first encore and let it play out for ages. it was beautiful. i had absolutely no energy to get into the crowd, though. so i kept by the side of the stage. it was the first row, though. in a way, that was also sweet because i could watch the guys closely and once again, i was amazed how much they love their job. especially chris, the singer. he's always smiling, always has something nice to see. i've never seen a bad slut gig or even one where the vibe between them and the audience wasn't flowing. even when they were supporting placebo.

the support was lawn. apparently, they're from the netherlands. at first, they seemed a little boring to me. sort of like keane - nice melodies but tiring after a while. but somehow, i really enjoyed listening to them. some of the songs were just...i don't know how to describe it. they had that feel to them that i noticed in some other songs, for example "positivity" by suede or "forget about tomorrow" by feeder. it makes you feel like you're floating within the sound. really really sweet. the rest of the songs WERE boring, though.

a last word on slut, though: germans go here and vote for slut tomorrow. please. i mean, the other options aren't even interesting. *sheepish smile*

well, the rest of my time was pretty boring and not even worth being mentioned. did some more cleaning and whining because this cold is literally doing my head in. i haven't had such a strong headache in ages. and it refuses to go away. so i spend most of the time sleeping anyway (some mean people might say that's not a huge change to my usual self *glares*).

and now, please excuse me, as the golden girls are on telly...
